MISSING: gall bladder, appendix, omental cake, half of her colon, a chunk out of her liver and much of her diaphragm, tumors were also removed from her bladder, kidney and walls of the abdomen , about 5 liters of icky sticky cancerous fluid was also collected. They were kind enough to replace 6 units of blood however.
All of these were removed from mom during surgery today. If found, we don't want them back. There were more tumors to remove than expected, but there were many pleasant surprises as portions of the surgery went better than the usual surgery. It was a very severe surgery taking longer than expected, but all of the visible tumors were located such that they were removable. There were no tumors in Mom's lymph nodes. Her liver was flipped over during the surgery (you know how mom is about redecorating and rearranging furniture) but they put it back. In all, the doctor figures that the cancer left in her body is less than the size of a pea which makes them hopeful that the chemotherapy will be effective.
Mom is pretty beat up and will be sedated until tomorrow and then kept in ICU for 2-3 days; this will hopefully keep her from reading this blog and beating her daughters.
We appreciate all of your prayers and well wishes for our mom. Fasting works.
