You think I look bad? You should see the other guy

Iris is recovering well from the surgery. She feels like a gutted fish but has good color in her face. In true stubborn form, mom didn't sleep as long as the doctor planned and woke up during the night. This morning they removed some of the tubes in her throat, oxygen levels are good, and the nurses and therapists are happy with how she is progressing. The doctor hopes to break her out of the ICU tomorrow but keep her in the hospital 8 days or so. Mom is looking forward to eating ice chips so something tells me she won't mind the hospital food so much.
