Let us never forget

While we were in the Netherlands in 2009 we were able to participate in a Memorial day celebration honoring our fallen men.  Our mission President  representing the Church, laid a wreath along with many other churches and groups in memory of them.  There are many cemeteries in Europe specifically dedicated to American soldiers who died there during W.W.II  The whole affair was very moving that day as we stood and sang the national anthem and placed our hands over our hearts while our flag was being raised.  I could not be more proud of those young boys who sacrificed their lives for our family as well as many of our neighbors living under attack from Hitler.  I am also grateful to the loved ones of those who are buried there for their  sacrifices as well.  Our family has been so blessed to be living in this great country now and  being citizens of the United States of America.   The plaque above is on a large pillar at the entrance to the cemetery and it rememinded me of the many stories my parents told us over the years of the help we received but most especially the gift of freedom.  I hope our children and grand children will always appreciate the sacrifices made for their future.  I honestly hope and pray that we will never loose the freedoms we have  here in this great country.
