Blown away and dripping wet.

The weather lately has really been pretty wild.   Thunder, lightning and heavy rains have really put a damper on things.  We thought for sure that one of the lightning strikes hit our building but evidently not because we are still standing and still have power.   Our Apartment building has 24 floors and this is the tallest structure around.   We headed out into the wind and rain that makes it impossible to keep an umbrella from turning inside out.  With the rain pelting us from the side we just ran from the building to the car and then from the car to the church ending up looking like all the wet soggy people walking into Jo Vos last night. Some of the kids came on bikes and ended up soaked to the bone. One fellow changed into his work-out gym duds for institute while the rest just sat and suffered.  I'm sure biking  home afterwards was no pic-nic either.

Speaking of pic-nics, our branch had plans for one tomorrow in a park about an hour away.  The trouble is,  no one wants to spend their day planted on a wet blanket on  soggy ground and watching a bunch of dedicated sport nuts playing ball in the mud, so the whole thing has been called off (Party Poopers).  We really should have known this would happen because of the signs for the last few days but the decision was just barely made. So,........what in the world am I going to do with all this food?   It's a good thing that we are having a linger longer pot luck lunch after church Sunday or I would be feeding the whole neighborhood.

Another situation kind of threw a "wet blanket" onto our evening last night at Institute.  One dear sister here in Groningen had agreed to cook for the fourth Thursday this month and I was trilled to get an evening off.  The problem was,  she cooked last night instead of next week and so here we came dragging into the building hauling bags of food to fill the youths "feed bags"and looking like wet dish rags only to find out that I could have had the night off from cooking.  Her spaghetti was already cooked and so we served that and I just slowly backed out of the door and put the food back into the car.   More food for the pic-nic right? wrong, with that called off everyone will just have to really eat tons on Sunday.

At least Institute was fantastic with 23 people there and a spirit that filled the room.  We love watching the youth when they understand a new concept or doctrine and trying to apply it in their lives.   Life if fantastic and we love serving, especially when we can see great results.
