Beautiful, beautiful Holland

While our children were here we were able to show them some of the most beautiful places  in Holland.

The little village of Giethorn was one of them.  Some residents can only be reached by boat, so the fortunate owners can leave the hustle and bustle of the roads behind them.  Even the livestock has to be moved along the canals in small vessels to get them from one pasture to another.

Many of the homes are just summer retreats but there are still some old time residents who just can't imagine living anywhere else. 

I think the Dutch  have water instead of blood running through their veins because heading out in a boat seems to be their favorite pastime no matter what the weather may be.

Even though we were not able to see many tulip fields this year, we were able to catch a few of the late bloomers.
