They're here!!
The sisters have arrived and we got them into their new apartments. We still have to do some simple things but they now have a bed to sleep in and a fridge full of food.
Our Groningen Sisters are darling girls. Sister Jones just had her 25th birthday yesterday and she goes home in six weeks. Her companion, Sister Hudson just got to the mission three days ago and is a "greeny" but a cute one. Both of these girls or should I say woman are ready and willing to get to work and they will be a great help to the area.
The Leeuwarden sisters are a bit different however. Both Sisters (who will remain nameless) seem to be a bit clueless. We were warned about them being real airheads and they sure lived up to that description. They got lost on the way from the train station to their apartment which is only about 10 minutes away. They were given complete instruction by the mission office but they still could not find the place. Ben and Elder de Leeuw went and rescued them.
When we told them we had an appointment and that we would return in one hour to take them to the grocery store, we were really not surprised that they had already lost their keys somewhere in the apartment.
We knew the circus was about to start. They were finally located in the lock. Imagine that. We live an hour away from them and I wonder how many trips we will be taking to come to the rescue of these two females.
We will really have our patience tested and that will probably be good for us. We seem to be raising another family here and hopefully what we have learned from raising our own will be of some help. We will try not to make the same mistakes on this new bunch. Heaven help us!
O.K. So the next day was better and even the blossoms were starting to come out. Our mission leader in the branch is a very dedicated man and he and his sweet wife invited us as well as our two Sisters and Elders to come to their home after church. They served us a nice lunch and then we had a meeting that lasted three hours. The sisters were very quiet and said very little but did comment that they would be willing to do what ever they were asked. We will all be concentrating on visiting everyone on the Branch list in a more systematic way so that no one will we skipped.
Everyone needs to be appreciated and loved, and hopefully we will be able to find those who would like to return and feel the joy we feel in coming and participating in the Branch. The Lord's plan is truly a plan of Happiness and we want all to participate, enjoy and flourish in this great plan.
