Memorial Day
Our ward has had the tradition for what seems like forever to have a Memorial day breakfast each year. We finally came out of our shell and attended this morning. It was so great to see some familiar faces. We have lived in our home for over 45 years and we were the oldest residents there this morning. So many memories flashed through my head as we greeted friends from years and years ago. Many of these people helped us raise our children by teaching them in Primary and Young Men and Young Woman as well as giving them a kick in the behind when they were not behaving in the neighborhood or at school. It has been great to watch as all our young ones grew up and left the nests. Bitter sweet memories. I will always be grateful for the support we have received from great ward family members throughout the years. The Lord does not place us here on earth to be alone. He intended for us to have friends and loved ones around us to help us, and Ben and I have received tremendous support along our path to help us raise our children. The time has now come for those children to step up to the plate and take on responsibilities that are sometimes time consuming and difficult (and not much fun) but they seem to be doing a great job at it. I stand in awe when I see the parenting skills they have developed and wonder where in the world they learned them. Certainly not from us.......

I miss those Memorial Day breakfasts. I was thinking about it yesterday morning, as a matter of fact. That Apple Valley Ward is one of a kind.
I'm glad you are up and at it a little bit. Michelle gives me updates once in a while. And you DO have wonderful children.
I believe we DEFINITELY learned how to raise our kids from you. I find myself sounding like you many times when I talk to my kids. Thanks for all the lessons you taught us, both the good and the bad--or rather the ones we didn't want to learn.
It was so fun to attend the breakfast with you too. Thanks for inviting us! It was fun to see some of the ol gang!
So good to read your comments again. Sounds like you are feeling much better, you really sound like you.
Continue on in the fight - you are an amazing woman, and I am so blessed to have had you cross my path. You bring so much joy and beauty to my world.
Love to you always and many hugs.
Hazel
