Brother and Sister Willems in Antwerp are very special people. We visited with them weekly and even had a chance to help them in their yard. We became very close friends and know that this friendship will last forever. Sister Willems was baptized about 34 years ago but Brother Willems was just not ready. He has attended church on a somewhat regular basis since then but would just not "take the plunge" He believed it all and lived the word of wisdom but when Ben would ask him straight out when he was going to be baptized he would just point to the sky and say "I will do that up there". We kidded with him and told him "probably no water up there" He would just smile.
Well.......Last week brother Willems finally knew that it was time for him to take the big step. I talked to Sister Willems on the phone and she could not be happier. She knew that "some day" this day would come but never thought it would take so long. Years ago when she received her endowments she even did the temple work for Brother Willems first wife and his daughter. She is an amazingly strong woman and has served in every way she could as well as getting into family history work. Miracle are still happening back in the Mission Field and it is great to hear of them now that we are home. (I have a picture taken at the baptism but am having trouble posting it. I will try and add it later)
