The Lord is watching over the people of the Netherlands
I spent the afternoon yesterday with my sweet friend Luydmila from Siberia. We have been friends since our last mission here and she has a very special place in my heart. This marvelous woman has experienced some horrendous events in her life and yet she has chosen to go on and persevere. She and her children are finally "legal" now and will be able to remain in the Netherlands. They are still waiting for her husband's papers to clear and then he will be able to work legally. It will probably take months because of the slow process in the immigration department but at least there is hope now. The trials she has had to endure have made her resilient and she keeps telling me that the reason she is so strong is because she is Russian and the women in that country are all "tough". I suppose she has had to be.
Brother Oppermann is going downhill quickly and hopefully will not have to wait much longer before he can return to his Heavenly Father. He is ready and I think his wife Ans if finally prepared to let him go. We are just praying that they will both be comforted during this difficult time. The cancer had spread throughout his whole body now and life is becoming more and more uncomfortable for him each day.
We have been able to slow down a bit and tune into conference. What a joy to be able to be so far away and yet be able to listen and feel the spirit of Prophets thousands of miles across the ocean bear their testimonies of the Savior. We are so grateful to be here serving the people of the Netherlands and watching the growth of the mission. We are helping to prepare new apartments for eight new Sister Missionaries who should be coming sometime after the end of April. This place will really be booming with these young ones bringing with them their testimonies and sweet spirits. We can't wait. Please remember to pray for the missionaries and mission work all over the world. The Lord is truly hastening the work and we all need to step up to the plate. .
