Here are a few extra pictures of items in the war museum. It is amazing how fast people forget the sacrifices made for us, however our family will be eternally grateful to those brave soldiers who brought Europe it's freedom. The Dutch were pretty happy to see the American Jeeps traveling the roads of Holland. We both heard so much while growing up of what life was like between 1940 and 1945 and this has made those stories more valuable. I think we learned to appreciate the simple things and not to take life and all our conveniences for granted.
1. Home grown tobacco so bad the Germans would not smoke it. (Both our fathers smoked before joining the church).
2. Containers that were filled with weapons parachuted down for the underground.
3. Wooden snow over boots for those soldiers who had to stand guard in the snow.
4. Yellow Jewish star the Jews were required to wear on their outer clothing at all times.
