Merry Christmas Lyudmila

It has been a very emotional day. I was finally able to visit Lyudmila today. She allowed me to come over and bring them a Christmas basket. I have to admit I really did not know what to expect. I had not seen her since she was abducted and was able to escape. She has some physical scars that will heal but I think the emotional ones will never go away. She and her husband told me today that the police have not really been able to solve the case so they are attempting to move to another place in the Netherlands. I have to tell you however that this great woman has become very strong because of the things she has experienced. She still wanted me to sit down and visit and insisted on making some herbal tea. She was planning on making cookies with her children today and they are planning a quiet Christmas as a family.

I can not tell you how grateful I am for the life I have been given. The Lord has really blessed me with a beautiful life with a family to match. I think he knows best what we can handle and I truly believe that each of our lives is custom made. When we overcome trials and challenges we are made stronger and we are able to go on to the next event.

We keep praying for Lyudmila's family and hope that some day her life will become more peaceful and that she can always find comfort in knowing that she is loved by a Heavenly Father who knows and loves her.

We just heard that there is a weather warning out for the Netherlands. We should be getting some freezing rain and snow tonight which will shut down the trains because the switches freeze up. We will probably end up with Elders spending the night with us which will be fine. I have become used to cooking for a crowd. It's a good thing we have stocked up on food and we have plenty of blankets to go around. Merry Freezing Christmas to all!!!!
