Last night while visiting with a family here we were reminded of an incident that happened a long long time ago. One day during WWII when Ben and his family were living in Rotterdam he became a very fussy one year old who just would not settle down and go to sleep. When he finally did settled down and doze off the sirens went off to warn the people to rush to the bomb shelter about a block away from their home. It was not that unusual for the sirens to go off several times a day so no one really panicked too much. Because he had finally fallen asleep his mother chose not to head for the shelter just this time. She was not looking forward to spending the rest of the day with a fussy baby. As it happened, the shelter received a direct hit and everyone in the shelter was killed.
We don't always know what the Lord has planned for us down the road. We may be protected from accident when we are not even aware of what is happening around us. Many times while here we actually feel as though we were being spared for some reason or another. Sometimes we are made aware of the Lord's intervention often times not. How often have we been stuck in traffic only to be spared an accident down the road. Of perhaps a small voice has told us to quickly take another way home. We will continue to pray for protection for our loved ones and those around us. There are still so many places for all of us to serve that hopefully we will be protected.

Thank you for sharing this story. It's neat to hear things like this and remember how acutely the Lord is aware of each of His children.
