Flames coming out our ears.

Lei Lei (known as Frank at school) is one of our JoVos who offered to cook for FHE last week and he was so excited to be able to do this.  He is from China and is studying here in Groningen.  He always comes into the kitchen and says, "Hey lady, I come to help you" He has a very difficult time understanding anyone, and vice versa.  He does speak some English but his Dutch is not understandable.

He prepared a Chinese meat sauce that was hotter than anything we have ever tasted.  Even the African foods we have eaten here in both our missions does not compare with the temperature of the dish that Lei Lei prepared.  Every one and I mean every one had a pretty big surprise with the first bite.  It was actually fun to watch their faces. He told us to eat more cucumbers to help cut down on the heat and that really worked.

The Dutch do not believe in throwing food away so they all planned on cleaning their plates.  We had to return to the serving table several times to add more noodles to our plates to help distribute the hot sauce.   Fun, Fun, Fun. I am really getting an education on foreign foods.
