Brother Willems and Ben have become great buddies. He says he loves having us come. A couple of weeks ago he came to church wearing his "captains cap" We both commented on how dashing he looked so.......when we stopped by the other day he said he had a present for Ben. He told us that he had not seen one of these in the store for years but when he walked into his favorite shopping area he saw one and he hurried and grabbed it for Ben. These people are not wealthy but they are very generous with us. Sister Willems tells me that we must have know each other before we came to earth and I think she may be right. Last week she was asked to tell a Christmas story at the Catholic Rest Home where she visits all the time. They did tell her that this year she could not bring any "Mormon Stories" like she did last year when she brought a Liahona (Dutch Ensign) and told a story out of that. So this year she just tore off the front cover and told one anyway. I need to tell her about having copies made at the copy center so she does not have to destroy her copy.
Last night Elders Carey and Brown stopped by for dinner and brought our John. When John saw the Santa hat he went crazy so I just had to snap a picture of the three fellows. John told us back in Africa when his father was alive he would throw a big party every Christmas. He would buy two cows and cut them up, then he would pass out all the meat to his huge family of five wives and 21 children and would save the best part for himself . As John tells us, the best part is the intestines that are split not with a knife but with a very sharp stick. Then after cleaning and washing, it is placed in a pot and cooked to make Pepper Soup. That is the best part? Thanks but no thanks John, just save a big steak for me and you can have all the soup you want.

Pepper Soup had a huge legacy with the Elders in my mission because there are a lot of Africans in Philly too. I never got to try it, but from the way they talked about it...I'm grateful!
Dad looks so happy. I am grateful you two are really enjoying "the ride" and that you are doing such a great job. You were definitely meant to be there. The Dutch people are greatly blessed to have you there. Love you!
Is it just me or does Bro Willems kinda look like Om Sam?
