Close is one thing but crowded is another story

While visiting a friend in Leeuwarden I looked out her back window and again realized just how small some homes and back yards can be. There really is no room in their back areas to have a garden or even grass. People have to take their dogs for a walk because there is not enough room for them to get any exercise at home.  Between dog walking, biking and running for the bus, people and their pets do keep in shape.

Housework really is not that big a deal if all you have is about 500 square feet of space to clean in your home.  However, for people who do not live on the ground floor laundry day can be difficult.  Most of them do not have room for a clothes dryer and thus have to hang all their wet items outside to dry.  Fantastic if it does not rain which it does a lot.  It becomes a game to run out and retrieve the laundry when it starts to pour and then to hang it back up when it stops. I have seen them bring in stiff frozen towels and pants that will just have to be places on furniture all over the house until they melt.   Fun Fun Fun.
