Today in Relief Society we talked about Pres Monson's talk on learning from the past but looking to the future. Many comments were made about how difficult life had been for some of the sisters. While I feel very blessed with the life the Lord has given me, I can understand some of the sentiments of the sisters. While Ben and I were discussing the lesson after coming home, he reminded me of something Pres. Hinkley said in a talk some time ago and I feel like it is worth repeating.
"Life is like an old-time rail journey—delays, sidetracks, smoke, dust, cinders and jolts, interspersed only occasionally by beautiful vistas and thrilling bursts of speed.
"The trick is to thank the Lord for letting you have the ride" ("Big Rock Candy Mountains," Deseret News, 12 June 1973, A4).
We are grateful for this ride we are on at this time. There have been a few speed bumps along the way while here in Belgium, but no road blocks and for that we are very thankful.

Iris, I read your blog all the time. I seldom comment cause I never know what to say, but I so enjoy hearing all about your mission. I think you're doing amazing things. What a great example you and Ben are. May the Lord bless you for your service and in your efforts. Keep up the good work! I love you!
