This maple leaf is about the only thing in Belgie that is big. It was about 16 inches when we brought it in. We have some beautiful trees outside our apartment and all the leaves are falling off, not really from the cold just from the wind which is unbelievable.
Today we had SNOW yes, snow. One of the members wondered if they would cancel Young Men and Women and seminary last night because it snowed. I really had to laugh. Yes we did see snow but it all melted before it hit the ground. We heard that there has not really been any snow on the ground for the last 7 years, so maybe it will just snow for us so that we will not feel homesick for our driveway at home.
When I said that the maple leaf was about the only thing big here, I really meant it. Not only is the country small but so is everything else. Our poor Elders have their knees up against their ears when ever they climb into our little car. We have actually driven all the way to Holland on a day when the traffic was slow and after about 3 hours in the back seat we had to unfold them and iron them out before going in to Zone Conference. Most of the tall Elders just put their mattresses on the floor because their bed frames are just not long enough. We have seen a few American cars and even an extended cab pickup over here but I don't know where in the world they park. None of the spaces are big enough and garages are just not wide or tall enough, besides the streets are very narrow. Most of the time we have to just move into a parking space so the car coming from the other direction can pass. Everyone is used to it and it really is not a problem. Not really too much honking either. The basic driving rules are.... bikes and pedestrians have the right of way and cars coming from the right do too, and what ever you do, never walk on the bike path or you get mowed down in a hurry. You can tell that some of these cobblestone or brick streets have been around for a LONG time and so narrow that they have just turned them into one way streets with parking just on one side.
Oops! I just looked outside and the snow has stopped, Maybe we will get more next year.

Is that leaf really almost 16 inches across? Or is that a newfangled metric ruler? If it's inches, that is huge!
At any rate, I needed to tell you how much I enjoy reading your blog. I'm glad Brother and Sister Spek are having such a great experience.
Melinda, yes the measurment is in inches. These would have been great for Adam and Eve in the garden of eden. They are huge.
