Yes, we had turkey day this year after all. A new member in Rotterdam owns a restaurant and prepared a turkey for about 30 of us and the Senior couples brought the rest. It was just planned for the Senior Couples but it kept growing and growing and pretty soon a bunch of Elders from the Rotterdam district ended up coming. It was great to see so many of them there. The owners mother who helped out said she was pretty impressed how well behaved we all were. What was she expecting a bunch of animals? Her son was actually baptized last week and she refused to come to his baptism. I think she warmed up to us and who knows maybe the Elders best behavior softened her heart enough to someday be willing to hear more about the gospel.
After the dinner all the "Seniors" went to the "Pilgrim Church" for a tour and a lecture.
The church is on a small harbor in Rotterdam called "Delft's Haven" where a group of pilgrims set sail to England and from there boarded the Mayflower to sail to America in the year 1620 They actually had their own ship, the "Speed Well" to sail on but by the time they got to England it had developed so many leaks that it would have taken too long to repair so they transferred to the Mayflower to sail the rest of the way.
The church is on the left with the white truck parked in front. Sorry I could not get the driver to move the truck. The etching was done in 1667 and is displayed inside the church.
