A dinner made with love.

We were invited to dinner by Sister Kniest Friday and she had also invited a sweet neighbor friend to join us. Sister Kniest  lives with her two cats in Hereveen about an hour from here. She has been a member since 1964 and is really involved in Family History.  Her friend Thea is not a member but knows a lot about the church and seems pretty accepting.  We will just have to work with her.

Sister Kniest made pork chops just like Ben's mom used to make, fried for a long time until they are more like shoe leather.  The grease of course was saved to use for gravy.  When dinner was ready she placed the pans on the table and we were treated to boiled potatoes, sprouts, peas and carrots. While we were dishing up our food we noticed that every one of the pans had cooked long enough to have burnt layers on the bottom.   Ben really remembers those meals growing up.  It was very sweet of her to cook for us and we enjoyed visiting with the two lonely gals who both have health problems and don't get out much. They told us that they also enjoyed the evening and that is what matters after all.  She asked us to come back again some other time and I told her that it would be our turn and that we would bring the meal since they can't make it to our place.
