Windmills everywhere
I asked Ben to stop in a little village on the way home from church today. We love taking the slow way home and enjoying the countryside closeup. This windmill stood out and I just had to get a little closer to take a picture. Notice the modern windmills that have been replacing the old ones. They are a bit bare for me and lack that Dutch "charm"
Church was really good today, with a few hickups. When we were finished with the Sacrament Hymn everything in the Chapel went silent and no one moved not even those taking care of the Sacrament. It was just discovered that someone had forgotten to bring the bread. Our Branch President quickly went into the foyer and brought back a pound cake that was on the table as part of the feast we were having after the Christmas program, there were a few strange looks but it all turned out well. Ben was conducting and reminded everyone afterwards that in D&C 27: 2 it states that it does not matter what we eat for the Sacrament as long as we have an eye single to God's glory remembering his body that was laid down for us. I'm glad he was able to just pull that scripture out of his sleeve to share. He has been really good at coming up with just the right thing to say when ever it is needed. He may be a quiet fellow but he is a giant in my eyes.
The Christmas "Feast" was a success. I was afraid the whole crowd would go into a diabetic coma because of all the sweet treat that were brought but thankfully some of us brought enough nutritious dishes to counterbalance the sugar attacks.
Our choir may be little but our lungs make up for the small number of singers. We sang in Dutch, German and in English and it was pretty O.K. I had forgotten my glasses so it was a bit scary especially while singing in German but I made it through, I couldn't back out because there were just two of us singing alto. I did have a few weepy moments during the program especially when this cute two year old little girl climbed onto my lap and starting snuggling. I am so sappy.
It does not matter where we spend Christmas as long as the Christmas spirit is in the air. Even here in this crazy country there are some marvelous people who can make the season bright.
