Getting creative can get very tiring

Time for me to get a swift kick in the backside because  I don't think I will ever want to cook again.  It is so difficult to come up with new ideas. I am trying to cook as nutritiously as I possibly can but how many things can be done with  Brussel Sprouts,  Spinach, Carrots or Leeks.  The youth get veggies at home all the time so they really want me to get creative with them or cook something "American".  They love spaghetti, tacos, pizza, sloppy joes or just plain hamburgers. I usually "toss" in a salad and as long as I have a different home made dressing each time, they love salads.  Fixing desserts for anywhere from 16 to 25 kids each time can get pretty challenging as well. There are only so many cookie and cake ideas to try but that gets old also.

I really appreciate having one of our investigators Mario cook for us last Monday night for Family Home Evening.  He fixed something that looked like chicken in a sauce.  He said it was a Portuguese recipe along with Fu Fu a dish we have had before which is basically a very thick cream of wheat  that is made into a ball with your fingers and dipped into the chicken and sauce and then popped into your mouth. (no silverware to wash)  Super spicy of course but at least I got a break and I am grateful that he was willing to pitch in.
