Watch your actions

A quote from a letter to President Mark Albright about a fireside where Area Seventy Gordon H. Smith was the keynote speaker:

"Missionaries need to realize that they are being carefully watched by others, and that the ripple effect of their good deeds and examples can significantly affect other people years later and many miles away.

Members also may never know the impact that their good examples have on other people and their decisions".

Even when we think no one is watching what we do and say, they are observing our actions.  Even while going out in public we wear our "mission clothes" and our badges.  I was able to hand out another pass along card to a clerk in a knitting store who noticed my badge and commented about knowing where our church was. I got a chance to talk to her just a little about her belief in Christ. The ironic thing is that I knocked over a display and could easily have walked away but I stopped and put everything back in it's place.  She noticed and commented that she really appreciated what I had done.  My mother always taught me to put things back where they belong, so I did, no big deal right? Who knows, I gave her the card offering a free DVD about Christ and she may even follow up on that.  I will mention it again when I go back into the store.
